Bernie Fehringer
Bernie Fehringer , a Sidney area farmer, has announced his candidacy for the 47th Legislative seat currently held by Phil Erdman who is term limited.

Fehringer, 65, was born in Sidney and has lived in Cheyenne County for the last 30 years where he operates a certified organic farm. His interest in legislative matters developed as a result of his long time involvement in local, state and national rural electric associations. Fehringer has been elected to four two-year terms on the Nebraska Rural Electric Association Legislative Committee, serving two two-year terms as chairman. He currently serves on the Wheat Belt Public Power District Board representing Cheyenne and Duel Counties and the Federated Rural Electric Insurance Board representing Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas.

In 2004, Bernie was appointed to the South Platte NRD Integrated Management Plan Committee representing farming and public power interests. He was then selected by the IMP committee to represent them on the Water Transfer Subcommittee. In 2005, Fehringer was appointed to the Platte River Over-Appropriated Basin Stakeholder Group and in 2007, he was appointed to the South Platte NRD Variance Advisory Group currently serving as its chairman.

Bernie and his wife Sharon, a retired secondary English teacher, have two grown children and two grandchildren.

Bernie Fehringer Responds to Keith County News Editorial To Elect the Remaining Ogallalan

         Bernie's position is that he will represent ALL the people of the 47th District, not just his home town.   This is in response to the Keith County News assertion that it is a "no brainer" for all voters in Ogallala to vote for Ken Schilz because he lives in Ogallala.
